Air-Powered Mixers

GridBee AP Air-Powered Mixers combine patented mixing technology with a clog-free, air-powered pump. They have no moving parts in the water, offering years of maintenance-free operation even in high MLSS (mixed liquor suspended solids) applications. Air can be supplied by the customer's existing system or by our optional on-shore air units. These powerful mixers are compact, lightweight, and easy to install by plant personnel, and with a low purchase price they have a fast payback in energy savings. Low-cost rentals are also available.

Pedestal Models:
Designed for use in activated sludge wastewater basins, wet wells, lift stations, and industrial tanks and basins. Can be set on the bottom of basins to 50-plus feet in depth.

Floating Models: These machines offer an adjustable intake depth and float at that depth to achieve specific water quality objectives; up to 100 feet deep or more for hypolimnetic applications. they are designed for use in lakes, stormwater ponds, and wastewater ponds.

Other AP models are available for small lakes, stormwater ponds, and estuaries to achieve blue-green algae control and other water quality improvements. These units are barely noticeable in a lake, with only three small float balls and the flowing water visible from shore.

Features and Benefits:

  • Patented long-distance circulation technology
  • Four standard sizes provide best-in-class, energy-efficient mixing
  • No moving parts or electricity in the water
  • Self-cleaning, clog-free design minimizes maintenance
  • Various models with adjustable intake depth for specific water quality improvements
  • Compact and lightweight for easy customer installation; factory installation available
  • Self-sinking (weighted) or floating air hose available

Wastewater Benefits:

  • Energy-efficient; with the Air-Power unit doing the mixing, the aeration system can be turned down to provide just the needed dissolved oxygen (DO)
  • Clog-free, self-cleaning design minimizes maintenance with no moving parts in the water
  • Cost-effective with existing air system or option air unit

Stormwater Benefits:

  • Thorough mixing provides increased detention and improved nutrient reduction
  • Effective control of blue-green algae and odors
  • No electricity in the water; safer for humans and pets
  • Low lifecycle cost when compared to fountains

Electrical Service (Required for optional air units):

  • 120v 1ph service is required to support standard low-pressure air blower units. For larger high-pressure air compressor or international units, 1 ph or 3 ph service at 50 or 60 hz may be required.

Note: Air-powered mixers should not be used in enclosed tanks or other areas where methane or other explosive gases may build up. Some gases may explode when combined with air.
